THE FACE OF FU MANCHU (65) aka The Mask of Fu Manchu. Harry Alan Towers’ most elaborate production finds the evil Dr. Fu Manchu once again poised to rule the world. And the not-so-good doctor’s weapon of choice is... Poppies! Poppies! Poppies! With Christopher Lee as Fu and Nigel Green as Sir Nayland Smith. Directed by Don Sharp. Gorgeous letterboxed English language print. Order

FEMMINE CARNIVORE (70) aka Carnivorous Females; Little Women; Die Weibchen. Outrageous psychedelic Pop Art sleaze about a woman who joins an exclusive spa only to discover it’s run by feminist cannibals! Imagine a cross between The Touchables, Spermula and Terror at Red Wolf Inn only with more gore and nudity and you won’t be far from the mark. The only movie we know of that’s got both a group bra burning (anybody remember those?) and a man being split down the middle with a table saw! Directed by Zbynek Brynych, one of the fathers of the Czech New Wave in cinema (see also The Fifth Horseman is Fear). Starring Giorgio Ardisson, Francoise Fabian, Irina Demick Uschi Glas and Pascal Petit and with a swingin’ soundtrack by Peter Thomas. Groovy, baby indeed. Italian language print. Order

THE FIFTH HORSEMAN IS FEAR (65) aka A Paty Jezdec je Strach. During the Nazi occupation of Czechoslovakia, a Jewish doctor removes a bullet from a wounded Resistance fighter and begins a nightmarish search for morphine through the streets of Prague. Although the film begins as a fairly realistic portrayal of the life of a Czech Jew under Nazi control, it gradually shifts into an expressionist Orwellian fable that is universally applicable. Understated acting contrasts sharply with the acute camera angles, harsh lighting and shock editing. Directed by Zbynek Brynych with Miroslav Machacek, Olga Scheinpflugova, Ilja Prachar and Josef Vinklar. Dubbed in Italian with no English subtitles. Order

FIGURES IN A LANDSCAPE (70) It’s official: Robert Shaw will fuck you up, regardless. Don’t believe me? Then just try to keep your chin from dropping past your arches when he sneaks up on and beats to death a goat herder WITH BOTH HANDS TIED BEHIND HIS FUCKING BACK! That’s right, the original "Mr. Blue" stars with Malcolm McDowell (the only two people to utter a word of dialogue) in this superbly directed, atmospheric, and dare I say, often poetic mindfuck of a mystery with enough open-ended metaphorical subtext to choke a warhorse. It begins with our two figures on the run in an unidentified ever-changing landscape from a helicopter ("Grey...Black...Bat!") and never goes to sleep for nearly two hours. Why are they running? From whom? From where? It’s food for thought, but those questions are full of empty calories best saved for later when you've got a film in which explosive diarrhea shares screen time with a crazy sumbitch trying to "kill" a whirlybird with a sub-machine gun, and lines such as "I hate a messy killing!" and "They should have never invented that bloody pill!" are spit so disgustedly between the teeth by fugitives on the edge of a nervous breakdown. The scenes with the helicopter are so painfully beautiful they must be seen to be appreciated, as the thing behaves like an animal toying with its food as it dies . It even gets so insanely close to the actors, you can’t help being on alert for an accidental decapitation. Directed by Joseph Losey. Letterboxed excellent quality print of this rarely found yet highly recommended film. (review by Scott Wallis) Order

THE FIRM (88) Gary Oldman is bloody well right as Bex Bissel, an average middle-class real estate agent and family man who, in his free time, likes to get together with his mates and beat the living FUCK out of anyone who dares to disagree with their choice of football (that’s "soccer" to you, Yank) team. An amazingly brutal UK TV movie from Alan Clarke, who also directed the equally intense Made in Britain. Included as an added bonus is the UK documentary Hooligan which chronicles the exploits of the notorious "Inner City Firm" whose pastimes included trashing stadiums, looting shops, burning cars and cutting people up with their trademark Stanley knives. Order

491 (63) A gay social worker attempts to reform a gang of hardcore juvenile delinquents with disastrous results in this controversial B&W shocker from Vilgot Smjen, the director of I am Curious (Yellow). Starring Lars Lind, Lief Nymark and Lena Nyman as the dog fucking prostitute. Letterboxed Swedish language print in fair to good quality. Order

FRAGMENT OF FEAR (70) It’s a "phantasmagoria of fright" in this little known gem from Richard C. Sarafian, director of the cult hit Vanishing Point. David Hemmings stars as a reformed druggie who questions everything including his sanity when he travels to Italy to find out who murdered his secretive aunt. An atmospheric thriller with a startling twist ending. Co-stars Gayle Hunnicutt, Wilford Hyde-White, Flora Robson and Adolfo Celi. English language with Netherlands subtitles. Order

THE FRIGHTENED WOMAN (69) aka The Laughing Woman; Femina Ridens. Philippe Leroy and Dagmar Lassander star in this eye-popping and unforgettable slice of Pop Art Eurosleaze about a wealthy eccentric who gratifies his sadistic fantasies through elaborately staged games of "master and slave." Our stunning, completely UNCUT and letterboxed import print absolutely blows away the murky pan and scan version offered by others and even includes the original trailer! Order

THE FRUIT IS RIPE (76) aka Fruta Madura; Griechische Feigen. Siggi Gotz gets us again with more sexy hijinks West German style. This one's dubbed in English (hooray!) and stars gorgeous Betty Verges as "Patricia," a free-spirited young lass who's wise beyond her years. When her well-to-do parents send her on holiday to Munich, Patricia gives away her plane ticket  and takes a detour to sunny Greece instead. There she uses her abundant charms to mercilessly tease and manipulate the locals until she finally meets a young stud worthy of strapping on. Verges, while admittedly a bit too old for this particular role, is an absolute stunner and best of all, is almost perpetually undressed. Throw in Olivia Pascal and some breathtaking scenery and you've hit sexploitation pay dirt, my friend! Order

A FULL DAY’S WORK (73) aka Une Journée Bien Remplie. Virtually unknown black comedy from France (in French with no subtitles) about a disturbed fellow who climbs onto his motorcycle with his mother in tow in the sidecar and proceeds to go on a cross country killing spree murdering all the members of the jury that condemned his son to death. Each victim is killed in an uniquely absurd fashion (reminiscent of the Dr. Phibes films) and the entire film is almost entirely silent with the exception of the musical score by Bruno Nicolai. Highly recommended! Order

FUTURE WOMEN (68) aka The Girl From Rio; Rio 70 (Sumuru); La Ciudad sin Hombres; Die Sieben Manner der Su-Maru; Sumuru Regina di Femina. Jess Franco's campy followup to The Million Eyes of Sumuru is great cartoonish fun as the evil Amazons of Feminia once again plot global takeover. Lots of supersexy babes in futuristic outfits make this easy on the eyes, but George Sanders steals the show by torturing Maria Rohm while reading a Popeye comic book! Order
