ANGEL’S FLIGHT (65) Lost film noir sleaze about a washed up
alky newspaperman after one last big story. A story that
revolves around a psycho stripper who murders her customers! Shot
entirely in California’s seedy Bunker Hill district (before it was
demolished by developers) this one’s a real find for fans of Jim
Thompson, David Goodis and the like. Watch for a great cameo by
Golden Girl Rhue McClanahan playing a drunken floozy arguing with
her boyfriend in a bar. Hey, is this what she means by "Thank you
for being a friend"?!?
THE BONNIE PARKER STORY (58) Stunning drive-in audiences almost a decade before Warren Beatty started collecting awards for "Bonnie and Clyde" THE BONNIE PARKER STORY blasts from the screen with all the impact of a smoking machine gun. Bonnie and Clyde (called "Guy" in this version) are small time punks waiting to become newspaper headlines. A string of bloody holdups across Texas leads to the Front Page story of their violent deaths -- gunned down by the Texas Rangers. Starring Dorothy Provine, Jack Hogan and Richard Bakalyan and shot in glorious black and white, this over the top cult classic is a must for nostalgia and trash movie fans alike. Order COMPANY OF KILLERS (70) aka The Hit Team; The Protectors. Gritty urban (well, if you call Denver, CO "urban" that is) crime drama about a hit man on the run from both The Law and his pals at Murder, Inc. This one sports an action-packed cast of rowdies (Van Johnson, Ray Milland, Fritz Weaver, Clu Galager, Susan Oliver, John Saxon) and is just way more fun than it has any right to be. Plus, we're happy to report that our version has far superior audio and visual quality to the crapola sell through tape that bobs up on eBay now and then. Order DAY OF THE WOLVES (73) Ingenious low budget heist film about a criminal mastermind who recruits an elite crew of stick up men and together they hold an isolated town hostage and rob it blind. These guys have never met before and are only known to each other by number (the kingpin is “Number One” the next guy’s “Number Two” etc.), plus they all wear full beards to make identification by witnesses more difficult. So you’ve got this little burgh set upon by a pack of hard cases who all look like Fidel Castro in a business suit and the whole thing’s backed by a funky ‘70s “wah wah” soundtrack. Very cool! OrderDOG EAT DOG (63) aka Einer Frist den Anderen; La Morte Vestita di Dollari. Rare B&W Eurotrash co-starring Jayne Mansfield and Cameron Mitchell in a dizzy fable about a pack of backstabbing losers fighting over a million dollar jackpot. Jayne spends most of her screen time expressing her need for a constant supply of fresh panties!!! Order THE GANGSTER (47) Odd, highly-stylized "psychological" gangster drama stars Barry Sullivan as "Shubunka" a stone faced racketeer whose empire is in jeopardy because of (what else?) his love for a dame. Order GUNBLAST (74) Low rent gangster trash set on the Tex-Mex border is made indispensable by completely gratuitous (and richly appreciated) footage of the improbable Uschi Digard wrestling her massive fun bags into submission at a sleazy strip club! Order JOHNNY COOL (63) aka Johnny Cool, Messaggero di Morte. A deported Mafioso languishing in Sicily taps a young former resistance fighter (Henry Silva) to be his personal Murder Inc. back in the States. And no sooner does Johnny Cool set foot on American soil than his bosses enemies start getting buried under it. Violent and very cool (Johnny Cool) gangster action with a cast that looks like the comp list at the Dunes: Elizabeth Montgomery, Jim Backus, Joey Bishop, Mort Sahl, Telly Savalas and Sammy Davis Jr. (who also sings the theme song). OrderMAD DOG COLL (61) Thoroughly entertaining little nugget of hard boiled historical inaccuracy stars weaselly John Davis Chandler as real-life Prohibition era gangster Vincent "Mad Dog" Coll. Mad Dog is, as you would expect from someone with the nickname "Mad Dog," not a nice fellow. This is established for us in the opening scene where we see M.D. standing in a misty graveyard cradling a Tommy Gun. "Hello, Pop" he sneers, right before riddling his father's tombstone with lead. See? Not nice. And the movie just picks up speed from there. So, accurate, shmaccurate. This baby's got attitude to spare, a great soundtrack, a cool strip club scene and it's even got young studs Telly Savalas and Jerry Orbach in some of their earliest work! Order NOTHIN’ BUT BLONDES aka Blonde in Bondage; Blondin I Fara. Order RIDE THE PINK HORSE From broadcast Order SCREAMING MIMI (58) Bizarre B&W yarn about a seriously disturbed stripper (aren't they all?) who's getting her strings pulled by a seedy psychiatrist. Stars buxom beauty Anita Ekberg and with a guest appearance by famous old time clothes shucker Gypsy Rose Lee, who looks like she's been shaking her money maker just a wee bit too long. OrderTHE SNIPER (52) Arthur Franz is locked and loaded in this combination psychological profile/police procedural about yet another frustrated momma's boy who just can't seem to restrain himself from picking up his high-powered rifle and popping off a few rounds at the women who piss him off. Light years ahead of its time in its depiction of "sex criminals," and how often do you run across a film that name checks Albert Fish? Order THE STRANGLER (64) Creepy Victor Buono plays a creepy strangler who wrings women's necks after winning little dollies at an amusement parlor. He’s got a whole drawer full of ‘em and a body count to match. Needless to say, it’s all mom’s fault. It always is with these guys. Nice B&W photography (the opening scene is amazing) and did we mention it’s pretty creepy? Order UNDERWORLD STORY Order WHO KILLED TEDDY BEAR? (65) Misguided comeback effort by pretty boy Sal Mineo teems with seediness and bad thoughts! Sal's a psycho busboy who likes to sit around in his underwear making obscene phone calls to the object of his infection. How long before he decides to reach out and touch someone for real? Nice looking print of this extremely rare, never-released-to-video collector's item. Order |
